The Latest from Lou Hi Everyone, The reason I have not sent out an update lately is that not all that much is happening. The one piece of great news is that our fundraising broke through the $400,000 mark this week. Thank all of you who have sent in your pledge forms. Thanks also to Pat Decker and the folks at the Forest Society for all their hard work in the fundraising effort. Regarding Red Oak Ridge, LLC, things seem to be at a standstill. The appraisal is in limbo as the access issue is still unresolved as far as I know. The town says there is no access, Red Oak says there is. Until that point can be clarified the appraisal cannot be completed. Red Oak Ridge is on the Planning Board calendar for May 6th. I will keep you posted. On sad note, there have been two passings of some of our Lake neighbors this winter. Merrymeeting Lake Road resident and Master Carpenter Eric Brown passed away in December. Julius Archie, gardener extraordinaire passed away in February. I could not find Eric's obituary but here is the link to Archie's http://obit.brewittfuneralhome.com/obitdisplay.html?task=Print&id=503928&clientid=brewittfuneralhome&listing=All. For those of you lucky enough to be reading this from somewhere warm and sunny, be advised; we got an additional 4" of snow today and still have a good 2 to 3 feet on the ground... if you don't count the snow banks. This winter has now officially become the snowiest one on record, second only to the winter of 1873-1874. We’re less than 7 inches short of the record, but we might still get “lucky”. Peace, Lou Thoughts from the WebmasterIt would be nice to see more commentary and activity on the site, especially in the forums. I try to find news of interest for the Merrymeeting / New Durham community. But I could use help.
Thanks |
