Default Generating interest in the MMLA and Annual Meeting

I'd like to post the following in the "General Discussion" area of the forums. Is everyone ok with this?

At the last meeting of the MMLA Board of Directors, there was much discussion about the upcoming annual meeting (June 30th, see Calendar for details).

In summary, the board is wondering how the format and agenda of the meeting can be changed to make the meeting more interesting and worthwhile to the MMLA community. We are especially interested in ideas that would help attract new members and, honestly, some of the younger members of the community.

Some ideas that were discussed;
  • Time limit the meeting - this has been done the past few years, insuring that all know when the meeting will end.
  • Limit discussions on particular topics.
  • Eliminate topics that have been discussed many times at past meetings and topics that, while interesting to the MMLA, cannot be enforced by the MMLA (eg: jet skis on the lake, speeding on the roads, marine patrol presence, etc.)
    With the capabilities of this forum, we felt that these topics could be better discussed and debated here.
So, this post is asking for your ideas. What would you like to see us cover on the agenda for the MMLA meeting, and what other areas of interest should we pursue to broaden interest in the association?

Please don't be shy. Your ideas are welcome!

The MMLA Board of Directors

I think this post is an excellent idea. let the body of the association determine what the agenda should be with a couple of our imposed guidelines.
