Default Ice Status

Lake cam appears to be down... how's the lake looking? Any ice starting yet?

I'm hoping to make it up there once there's a good freeze to do some ice fishing.

The lake cam is up today and the view shows a frozen surface but I doubt it's ready for ice fishing yet.

The lake finally froze completely on Thursday. By Friday, many areas were already upwards of 4" thick. It was pretty amazing to see how fast it happened. The lake was completely open on Wednesday due to high winds. But the temps were below zero at night. Once the wind died on Thursday, it skimmed over quickly, and by Friday the shoreline was thick enough to walk on.

While I'm not ready to be the one to test it, I'd say a majority of the lake is solid at this point. I walked on it about 20 yrds out on the eastern end yesterday, and heard a very loud expansion boom during the night last night. But again, I'm not sure I'd be ready to walk out in the middle of Broad Cove, especially given upcoming warmer temps.

Thanks for the info! Yea, saw the bit of a warm spell we have coming up...hopefully won't set it back too much. I'm with you though, I'll be waiting a bit longer before taking a stroll out onto the cove.

Default Alternate Lake Cam

The attached link shows photos captured at regular intervals from our lake cam. I hope folks enjoy it for checking ice status.
