Default Black Bear activity

Hi All,
Just a quick note that we were raided on July 26th by a smallish black bear (approx 150 lbs) in the early hours of dawn. Our own fault for hanging a bird feeder off a tree near our deck.
Also, our (absent at the time) neighbor's trash can holding system was rolled over and easily opened up. Little known fact: NH black bear prefer Snickers ice cream over vanilla!
We scared it away with a clap of our hands and it continued down Brightwaters Drive (old name Cedergren Road West), likely looking for more food.
Later that same day we learned that the Powder Mill hatchery has some good information on how to avoid this situation: bird feeders should not be hung April 1 to December 1.
Lesson learned...

Default Black Bear

I actually hit a bear Saturday morning 8/6/11 on my way to the dump. Right in front of 40 Merrymeeting Lake Road. The bear was down for a minute or so then stumbled back into the woods. My car has some decent dents in it.
